BECKY AYMESARTIST |
BIO
I am a self taught acrylic artist based on the Hampshire/Wiltshire border. I love to paint landscapes and also have a passion for pet portraiture. I grew up in the New Forest and live here with my husband and two children.
I started drawing and sketching for fun when I went travelling almost 30 years ago. I experiment with various mediums and have fallen in love with acrylics. I have taught myself, thanks to the internet and art magazines. I practiced, studied and practised again and now I am producing artwork that I am proud of. I am always learning, discovering new techniques and finding other artists who inspire me. I have a great space at home just for me to escape, play with paint, experiment, learn and create.
Walking with my dog around our beautiful forest is often my inspiration. It is such a glorious tranquil place and definitely my happy place! I love trying to capture the things I see on my walks; the way the light pushes through the trees, casting shadows on pathways or the beautiful colours of heather, bracken and new spring foliage.
I like having the contrast of painting landscapes alongside pet portraits. With landscapes, I can play with the composition, add or omit things as I wish. But with animals, I have to pay close attention to all the details, to make sure the animal actually looks like them as well as capturing their unique character.

“My Favourite Places”
I am lucky in that I get to explore the New Forest nearly everyday with a four legged friend at my heels! These paintings represent some of my most loved areas of the forest and also include coastal destinations that are very special to me.
