BIO
Caroline started to paint around 2000, after meeting with the inimitable Pamela Leatherland at a fitness class where Caroline eventually convinced Pamela that it would be a great idea to let her join Pamela’s Life Class, where some of the most established artists still meet on Friday mornings. Known as ‘The Lemon Timers’.
“I create light, semi abstract paintings of landscapes, and sea-scapes, using gentle muted colours which hopefully give an exciting account of the place."
ARTWORK
In my work I aim to focus on making a pleasing record of a place rather than a representative piece.
I am inspired both by the beautiful Wiltshire countryside it’s vast fields and openness, the shapes and colours, and also the stunning scenery around Devon and Cornwall. Sometimes though a little bit of the Yorkshire Dales just happens to creep in.
I paint in oils and Acrylics and mixed media. At present I have been experimenting with acrylics, building up layers, mark making, and allowing some of the earlier layers to come through, hopefully giving a new depth to my paintings.
