MARY FAWCETTARTISTS
|
BIO
Mary loves to paints with pastels, acrylics, inks and mixed media.
Alongside a long career in the NHS and raising a family, painting has been a journey of discovery and a lifeline during both hard times and good.
Initially inspired by her artist mother, they went on art courses and held numerous joint exhibitions together in Salisbury.
Mary also exhibited in London and Sussex, and has been awarded commendations and prizes, most recently the Hospital Artcare 2019 winner in their Open Exhibition.
MY ART
A sense of joy in our Creation has underpinned my work, though man-made field tracks and coastal paths often feature too. Sea and flower studies, and some spiritually reflective work are favourite themes as well.
My passion is for colour, vibrancy and energy in my use of paint, and some work has a more serene element.
I love the richness and enduring quality of pastel, though a lot may end up on my face! By contrast there is the versatility of acrylics or the vividness of inks. I enjoy the freedom of using enormous brushes on large canvasses, inviting spontaneity.
I have held many solo exhibitions, including the Library and Hospital, but now am concentrating more on the Salisbury Art Trails. I aim to take part in 2024 again, from May 25 to June 9 in my home.
I am grateful to Sally Edwards and her inspirational Salisbury Arts Scene, and hope to exhibit in the Market Square again at some stage.
Do ring or email me to arrange a viewing if you would like to see any of my art work.
