BIO
Having been more artistic than not since childhood, I started on further education at 39.
I have now earned a degree in fine art as a mature student and find I’m inspired by colour, contrasts and light more than anything else. It is the way something looks with something or against it that catches my eye.
A visible drop in tone can inspire a landscape painting or a sketch, while the clash between colours and textures can be what makes me start a still life picture.
I like to paint out and about (weather permitting), but ultimately have my studio, here in Salisbury, at the bottom of the garden, where I can take time to work through a painting, or watch the plants growing outside its windows.
ARTWORK
My work revolves around the house and places linked to my life. With strong emphasis on use of colour and line, things from the home are depicted as important objects in their own right.
My work has been selected to show as part of the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and also as part of the White Chalk Open in Devizes in 2023.
I am happy working with oil paints, pastels, water colours or drawing in pen and ink, believing the subject will depict the medium or scale of the work.
