PROFILE
The Young Gallery was established in 1913 when Edwin Young gave the City of Salisbury his collection of watercolours and other works of art (mostly by himself – he was a talented artist) and an endowment sufficient to build and maintain a gallery.
Now housed on the first floor of the Library the collection has grown substantially and includes the personal collection of author John Creasey and many historic and modern works by artists such as Turner, Blake, Hodgkin, Blackadder, McKeever and Moore amongst others.
As the primary venue for the visual arts in Salisbury the gallery aims to entertain and educate as wide an audience as possible through exhibitions from the collections, local schools and artists, travelling shows from other galleries as well as talks about art and workshops.
